What To Do
Noah has been as happy as he can be...most of the time. Starting yesterday when he got up, he started not wanting to eat. I gave him a bottle first, which every other time I've done that before cereal, he's ate almost the entire bottle. Yesterday he only wanted 3 oz, then he wouldn't touch his cereal. He continued taking about an ounce every time I tried. I made an appointment with the doctor to check his ears and she said his ears are great, and she thinks he's teething because his gums are swollen. She said if he won't take his formula to try giving him gatorade or pedialyte. I tried gatorade and he wouldn't touch it, so I tried pedialyte at bed time. He took 3 oz again and was done. He got up this morning screaming at 7:30 and only took 3 oz. I put him back to bed, and then around 10 he took 5 oz between pedialyte and formula within the next hour. I gave him Motrin at 10:30 to see if it was his teeth and if it would help. I though it was helping because again at 1:30 he took another 5 oz. At 4:30 he only took 2, then continued to stay the same if not worse throughout the rest of the day even with another dose of Motrin. If he's not going to eat more with it, I'm not even going to give it to him because he is just as cranky with it as he is without it. I don't know that I think it's his teeth. With that and/or Tylenol he should at least be somewhat more comfortable than he is and he isn't eating hardly anything. I'm giving him until Monday and I'm taking him back to the doctor. I read online that teething can start 3-4 days before the tooth comes through and last up to a couple of days after the tooth is through. Leon NEVER did this with any of his teeth, and I know each child is different, but I just don't think he should be as miserable as he is. He isn't that bad most of the time, but he isn't hardly sleeping, he's coughing a lot, he's got the runny nose somewhat, and he's just uncomfortable. I'm ready for the cold or whatever this is to get behind us. I Haven't given him any solid food because he won't even take a bottle consistently let along trying some food. My nerves are running low at this point trying to figure something out. I'm about to give up and he'll eat when he's ready, but I'm not looking forward to being gone all day Sunday and part of the day tomorrow with a cranky baby so he better shape up soon!
