Developmental Peds Update

Noah went to the developmental pediatrician today at Riley. He has reached all the milestones he should have been reaching or should be working on for his age. They basically do a checkup like he would have at his pediatrician's office. They said he was 24 inches long and weighed 13 lbs 8 oz...but I'm not so sure I agree with that. Our scales at home weigh him at about 15 lbs, but I don't see there being that big of a difference between scales. I swear he was 24 1/2 inches the last time he went to the doctor, but I forgot to write it down in his baby book, so I'm not sure. We will see what they say tomorrow at the doctor. The doctor at Riley is suppose to fax in discontinue orders for the feeding supplies!!! YEAH!!! They aren't going to do another swallow study unless he starts to have trouble again. Since he's basically been on the bottle only for about 2 months now, and his lungs are clear, they are saying he has no trouble eating now...which is what I've known for quite some time now :) He does have to go back one more time at a year old for another follow up and after that, he will be done with Riley!! I've never been more excited in my life! He's gained weight, but he's still small, so they gave me a "recipe" to increase his formula from 20 calories per ounce to 24 calories per ounce. It doesn't seem like much, but the doctor said that it won't take long and he'll start gaining weight. He's been on cereal for a few weeks now and doing great with it. He won't eat it plain though. I have to put fruit in it or he won't eat it. I call him Mr. Goldilocks!! Everything has to be perfect for him. He has to have his bottles at a certain temperature or he will NOT drink it. He has a lot of things he's picky about. He will NOT sit in a poopy diaper for very long at all, but I don't blame him on that one! He's been having BM's every time he eats almost now that he's refusing just the plain rice cereal. I've tried oatmeal but it gives him diarrhea, so we're not trying that one again any time soon. He is rolling over both ways and is trying to sit up. He's got some low muscle tone in his back muscles which aren't allowing him to do it quite yet, but it won't take long. Leon had the same problem. We just have little exercises to work on with him. Once he learns how to sit up, I'm sure it will be no time and he'll be off exploring everything he can get to! I'll know more probably after I talk to the doctor tomorrow when he goes to his pediatrician for his 6 month checkup.

I meet next week with an advisor at school to see what classes I need to take and hopefully register for the fall semester. I'm getting so anxious and excited about it.

Leon started speech therapy a couple of weeks ago. Since it is through the school system, he will only be having therapy during the school year and taking the summer off. He will going part time to preschool during the summer and then picking up again at full time in the fall. I don't want him to get out of routine and forget all the rules while he's out for the summer. He's been doing so well since having last week off for spring break. He's like a totally different kid. He has his first soccer game this weekend. That will take up about 6 weeks of our time on Saturday mornings. He absolutely LOVES it. We've had rain and cooler weather so they haven't had practice and he's been asking when he can go again. He's so full of energy, even the coach commented today. He is go, go, go all day long. He won't take a nap but by the time bed time gets here, he's out like a light most nights. He's always doing something or into something or trying to do something. He's so smart and remembers EVERYTHING you tell him! He doesn't let you forget if you tell him we are doing something either...he makes sure you follow through with it, so you don't want to tell him something and hope he forgets, cause he won't. He'll nag and nag until he gets his way too! It's late and Noah's appointment is at 10 am so I better get to bed so I can get up in the morning. :) I'll update more tomorrow on what the doctor says.
