Eating Better!!
I don't want to jinx myself, but so far today, Noah has done wonderful at eating by mouth! When I went in to get him up, he had pulled out his tube. I fed him 2 oz this morning with his vitamins in it. 2 hours later, he had 1 oz and fell asleep. When he got up from his 3 hour nap, he ate a little over 4 oz and then 3 hours later he ate 4 1/2 oz. This is drastic improvement from what we've been dealing with! The most he's ever taken before today is 2 oz and it wasn't even back to back feedings. Maybe we are FINALLY getting somewhere. I haven't put the feeding tube back in and unless he starts to slack off a lot, we won't put it back in any time soon. I know he can do it...he just has to prove to the doctor's that he can do it! I wonder if the surgery in some weird sort of way is helping him eat better for some reason. I don't get what the connection would be if there were even one, but I'm just glad that for today anyway, he's progressing. He's due to eat at any time, but right now he's asleep. I will probably try to wake him up and then put him to bed after that. He really hasn't slept much today other than his 3 hour nap.
He has slept every night and most naps in his crib since coming home from the hospital from his surgery as well. I'm very happy about that! I wanted to update that information while I was thinking about it. I am hoping to post his 3 month pictures tonight too, but we will see if I get around to it or not. More to update tomorrow on how his eating is then. :) Cross your fingers that he continues to improve at each feeding...we should be up to his 6 oz bottles in no time! (He normally takes 6 oz every 4 hours, so him taking 4+ every 3 hours isn't that big of a loss as far as ounces go for him per day. He shouldn't be losing weight by doing that, but we will see.)
