The Surgery
We are home for the night. The surgery went well. The acephlacele was removed without any problems along with a dermatitis sinus something that she found when she got in there. The sinus had to be removed or else he could have developed infection menengitis or chemical menengitis if he got hit in the head or his hair pulled once he was older. So, it's a good thing we had it done when we did. She didn't have to put a metal plate in his head though because his bones were all fused like they should have been. He is on Tylenol with codeine, so he's slept a lot. The only thing is he's not urinating like he should be, so they may cath him tonight, but I'm not sure. We will wait and see what happens in the morning. He did pee before we left, but it was just a tiny amount. He had 2 oz of pedialyte at first, and then 2 hours later, he had 4 oz of formula and then 4 hours later, he had 5 ounces of formula. Once he got to his regular feeding, they can take him off the iv fluids, but with him not urinating, I'm not sure they will yet. I'll know more later. For now, we are beat and are going to bed. I just wanted to post that everything went well, and now we are just waiting on him to urinate. He has the big bandage on his head, but it will be off by Wednesday and then he just has to wear a hat for a couple of weeks until the stitches dissolve. More updates later. Good night!
