9 Month Checkup
Today was Leon's 9 month checkup. The doctor said that his cough is just a cold and to put his humidifier back in his room. Who would have thought that the AIR CONDITIONER would have dried out a room?!?! Apparently it does though. He has grown 2 1/2 inches since last time. (I think) He was 26 1/2...I think and weighed 17 lbs 6 oz. He got 1 shot and then had to have some blood work done. He hated the shot and the blood work...like usual! He has moved up to the 25th percentile instead of the 5th though!! That's a plus! All in all, she said he is a very healthy baby despite his cold he has right now. We put the humidifier back in his room before he went to bed. So far he's been sounding pretty clear...not stuffy or having a runny nose which is good.
The doctor said that I should start brushing his teeth now too. Boy will that be fun?!?! I forgot to do it tonight but I don't think he was really feeling well so I'm kind of glad I didn't. Leon's old doctor said to give him tylenol every 4 hours for 24 hours after his shots. I asked this doctor if I needed to give him any after we left and she said he shouldn't have any problems with the shot. So, I told daycare that if he needed any what time he could have it and left it at that. I picked him up from daycare and went to Target to get a few things that I needed and then came home to feed him and get him ready for bed etc. We got home and he was extremely warm! I took his temperature and it was 101! For some reason I typically freak out with anything over 100 and I don't know why. So, I gave him some Tylenol and he tried to spit that back out. So, then we tried some dinner...he would eat his fruit but wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with his food! Last night he ate fine with his first stage 3's for the most part. He actually chewed up the pieces and everything. He had 1/2 a jar of fruit and 1/2 a jar of his dinner. So, tonight I was going to feed him the leftovers, and he ate the fruit but kept gagging on the dinner. He kept spitting it out and only ate about 1/4 of it. So, I guess we'll try again tomorrow night and see what he does. He had just gotten the Tylenol so I'm assuming he didn't want to eat because of the fever, but who knows. He ate a few fruit puffs and then drank 7 oz of his bottle and went right to sleep for the most part. How high does a doctor want the fever to be after a shot before wanting to be called? I have heard 102 but I don't know for sure. I figured I'd wait until tomorrow morning and see how he's doing and then decide what to do from there. I'm sure it's just the shot, but you never know! I'll keep you updated! Any suggestions would help.
