4-month checkup & misc
Yesterday, Leon wore his flannel shirt to daycare. I called him "Farmer Leon". Of course, he just laughs.

Today, he had his 4-month check up at the doctor. He also got 4 shots. Boy did he hate them this time!! His 2-month ones didn't seem to bother him so much, but this time he SCREAMED! It took me about 10-15 minutes to get him calmed down before I could even finish getting his pants back on him. Here are his wonderful bandaids to show the pain:

Leon's 4 month stats:
13 lbs 8 oz 24 1/4 inches long. He's bound to be short because of his parents though so I can't say much about that. Since his 2 month appointment, he has gained about 3 1/2 pounds and grown 2 inches, so I guess that's not too bad. The doctor said that he looks great and he's growing at a very steady rate. His little legs are definitely filling out more! (as you can see by the picture above)
The doctor asked if I had put him on cereal myself yet, and I told her no. She said to start with rice cereal with 2 tbsp once a day. (she recommended in the evening because you aren't as rushed then) In about a week, increase it to twice a day and then if I want increase it to 3 times a day. Then, she proceded to tell me that at 5 months she normally starts them on yellow/orange baby food. Since he is technically 4 1/2 months now, she said that as long as he's doing fine with the cereal in about 2 weeks, we can go ahead and start the baby food. Start with one food and give it to him for 3-4 days to make sure he has no food allergies to that food. (makes sense to me) Then, once he's done with that, we can move to the green foods and then to the desserts. I'll probably start him on the baby food in about 2 weeks, so we'll be going shopping for baby food, baby juice and everything else that he'll need for "big boy stuff" in the next week or so. I'm really excited because it means he getting bigger/older, but at the same time, it saddens me too. He's getting so big and doing so much that he's a lot of fun to be with now. (not that he wasn't before)The doctor was feeling his gums when I mentioned that he has 2 teeth on bottom. She felt them and said he is a little ahead of other kids in that area. Normally it is 6-7 months before they have teeth starting. (on the average anyway) At least he's above average in something right now I guess...he's definitely not in hight!!!!!! (at least in my opinion anyway) He can have 2 oz of juice too if he starts to have problems with constipation as well. Only apple/grape...the clear juices she said. Here is Leon before starting his cereal tonight:

Here he is eating his cereal: YUMMY...

Here he is after eating his cereal:

The last couple of nights have been really rough and frustrating trying to get him to go to sleep. Monday night, all he did was cry. I think he slept too much on the way to the store after daycare that he didn't want to go to bed at his normal bedtime...8:00-ish. So, at 10:00 I decided it was time for him to go to bed. I drove him around for about 1/2 an hour and he finally fell asleep in the car and was out for the night. We got home around 10:30. Then, Tuesday night, he decided to cry, and cry, and cry, and cry. I thought maybe he had gas. So, I picked him up to burp him and NOPE...wide awake looking around at EVERYTHING!!!!!! So, down he went again in his crib. I let him cry for a few minutes, gave him his pacifier, and repeated this about 5 or 6 times. Finally, he cried himself to sleep by 8:30. So, tonight I thought for sure we'd have problems right??? NOPE!!!!!! I put him down at about 7:50-ish and he whined once...not even CRIED!!!!! I gave him back his pacifier and he hasn't made a peep since!! I finally got a chance to post on here, get some house work done, finish his laundry that I've been working on forever it seems, and now I'm heading to bed fairly soon! I just hope it was something weird going on with him the past two nights and he'll be back to normal from now on. Tomorrow is Survivor at Danielle's house. I get to see baby Tony again and Leon will get to entertain her with his cereal eating I guess! Wish us luck!!
