5 Days Old

Noah is 5 days old today and still continuing to improve little by little. He was sedated today because they wanted to do an MRI to make sure nothing abnormal happened with him having less oxygen during delivery. Of course, even the sedation wouldn't keep him still enough for the procedure, so we didn't find anything out. The doctor said there really isn't anything he is doing to make him think he may have some sort of abnormality, but wanted to see if he could find out anything, but we couldn't. He kept letting his arms fly around and then got mad and once they gave him his pacifier, he sucked on it so hard his whole head wouldn't stay still enough to get a good picture. So, they told us we have the option of trying again tomorrow, but we have chose not to. If there is something different, we won't find out for quite some time until he is much older and it won't really matter to us, we will do what we need to do to take care of him anyway. When he is sedated, his oxygen levels have to be higher because he is so out of it. I don't want to delay anything another 2 days more than we have to. His oxygen today was at 38% and we breathe 21% so he's getting closer and closer to getting weaned off of it. He is still eating through a tube and hopefully in the next couple of days he will be able to actually start to nurse. Once he starts to nurse, I will be at the hospital much more often than I am now. I don't want him getting use to the bottle nipple like Leon did if I can help it. So, he improves more and more every day and I continue to pump. I'm almost getting enough now per pump for a feeding for him. It's just such a slower process than I thought it would be. I'll keep updating as things keep continuing to improve.

We are still praying for baby Noah to come home soon! Also, for you to stay strong while going through this. I haven't forgotten that you are recovering from major surgery while doing all these back and forth trips. I really feel for you!

Eric will be home on Thursday so just let me know if you need anything at all or would like a visitor after then.
