Baby Noah

Noah has arrived! He was born Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 4:30pm via c-section. On Monday nothing was happening with my cervix. Wednesday morning I woke up with pretty decent contractions that continued throughout the morning. I had some bloody show and called the doctor. I was able to get a 1:00 appointment with him. I went in and was dilated to 2cm and was 50% effaced. He said since I wasn't doing anything on Monday and Wednesday I was he was considering me to be going into labor and moved me upstairs to a room and waited for the OR to be open for the c-section. Noah weighed in at 8 lbs 15 oz and 19 1/4 inches long. It took him a while to finally cry and he had rapid breathing so they took him down to the NICU. He is still there, but improving everyday. He has been on oxygen since Wednesday. He was puffy like I was as well. They diagnosed him with Pulminary Hypertension. They think he was under too much stress either during birth or while in utero. Usually on average with the newborns they've had here, they typically end up staying in the hospital about 2 weeks before coming home. He is on an antibiotic in case he was getting something. He will remain in the hospital until those are finished, which they are leaving him on for 7 days. Depending on how he's doing then, will determine when for sure he will come home. He has drastically improved over the last few days. Today the last time we were down at the NICU, they had his oxygen level down to 50% and he was maintaining all of his levels by himself. He tends to get very upset and stressed when they start messing with him as far as iv's and stuff go. They did turn it back up to 100% today and then obviously back down to the 50% while we were in there. That was the lowest it had been today. He hasn't been able to eat at all, other than just being on an iv. He is getting more protein and stuff through his iv tonight and depending on how well things go and how his oxygen level is, he may get fed some through a tube tomorrow morning. He doesn't like to be messed with, but he is so cute and sweet. He doesn't cry very loud or very often. He looks a lot like me. Leon is a spitting image of his dad...so I guess I have my mommy look alike now too :) There is a lot more detail in some of the stuff going on, but this is plenty for now. I just wanted to let everyone know that he has arrived and I'm doing good, and he's doing much better each day. He does have some issues, but as soon as they are resolved, he will be home playing, eating, sleeping, etc. just like a typical baby. I can't wait to be able to hold him in my arms!

Leon is taking things well not being able to see me everyday. He was kind of weirded out the first night because of me having the iv in and being stuck in bed. He was more scared of me and looked at me like I was an alien or something. Once I could get up he was much better. Once my iv was out, he thought things were completely back to normal. :) He has been to the NICU to see Noah. He just says he wants us to take off his "bandaids" and bring him upstairs to mommy and daddy. :) He's such a sweet heart! I'll keep everyone updated and post some pictures once we get home.

Congratulations and welcome to baby Noah! We were in the NICU for 28 days with Jayla. I know its probably even harder with a toddler at home. I hope Noah keeps improving and that everyone is home soon!
