13 Wk Appt

I had my doctor appointment this afternoon. He assured me that we will be able to find out the sex of the baby and ok'd me to go ahead and go back to my original allergy medicine! Thank goodness because I've been going in sane with all these sinus infections from not being able to breathe etc.

He did the usual...listen for the heartbeat. He couldn't find it and thinks that the baby is hiding behind my main blood vessels making him only able to find my heartbeat. You know...there are 5 million places to find your own heartbeat in your belly. So, he ordered another ultrasound to make sure everything was ok. I went back to the waiting room and waited probably about 15 minutes...on top of the hour wait from earlier. (They were unusually an hour behind today) I go back to the ultrasound room and he wanted to do an internal one...I'm assuming to get a better look at things. The baby is fine!! It was moving around a LOT!! This one seems to be much more active than Leon ever was in utero. The baby's heart rate was 167bpm and Leon's was always in the 150's. Leon was with me so he got to see his "baby sister" as he put it. Before we went in to the ultrasound room, he says, "Baby sister in mommy's belly." It was so cute. So, with a higher heartrate and a very active baby, they sent us on our way. I go back in 3 weeks. I know I have some more blood work to do then and then 4 weeks after that we will find out what we are having!! He does the ultrasound at 20 weeks. My doctor with Leon was 18-20 weeks. Every one is a little different, but the end result is pretty much the same. So, we seem to have a healthy active baby on the way...can't wait for 7 more weeks when we'll know more!
