1st Doctor's Appt
I had my first doctor's appointment on Thursday. It went well. I am measuring 8-10 weeks so we did an ultrasound to see if what I thought was correct. It turns out I was 6w1d on Thursday, which was about 5 days behind what I thought, so I was more correct than what my uterus was measuring. He recommends having another c-section. With only a 1-2% chance of uterine rupture, he is leaving the decision up to us but told us what he recommends. I'm kind of torn on this. I'd like to try a VBAC, but at the same time, I recovered so easily from the c-section last time. I recovered easily...not to be confused with the incision closing quickly. It took it 3 months to close completely, but he doesn't think I will have issues with that this time. About a week after Leon was born, I decided to sleep on my belly...on accident really, and it opened back up in spots which resulted in a longer healing process. He won't induce me for a VBAC because it isn't as safe as it was several years ago. I'd have to go into labor on my own, which I did with Leon, but no pregnancy is identical so who knows if I would this time. We may not officially decide until later on in the pregnancy what we want to do, but we have plenty of time still.
I will have to deliver at a different hospital than last time which really bummed me out when he told me that. I absolutely LOVED the hospital, however, I really really like my doctor and I'd rather switch hospitals than doctors, so I guess that makes the decision pretty easy. My doctor delivered Leon because my prenatal care (family doctor) couldn't do a c-section. After the delivery I completely changed my mind to 1. have a male ob and 2. go with an actual ob. I can't say enough about him...he's great! I also made the decision 6 months later to remove Leon from the family doctor to an actual pediatrician who I absolutely love as well. I have 2 great doctor recommendations if anyone wants them :)
Leon is doing much better now. He is back to normal finally! He has regressed in the potty training area but today he's done a lot better. He told us when he had to pee all morning even though he did have a BM in his underwear while we were at Wal-Mart. (not fun!) he hadn't gotten the pooping down 100% then either, but I think I've finally gotten the peeing thing back into his head again. He got his bikes taken away because he told me twice in one night he had to go, pulled his pants down, and went to the potty but just stood there and peed all over the floor. The next night, he peed all over his bike so we took them away. It worked very well and VERY quickly last time for him to get it in his head what he had to do to get them back. He keeps asking for them back and I keep saying, not until you stop pottying in your pants. He says, "Ok, mommy." He's done great today so far though. If he continues, he'll get them back tonight.
Leon may be moving to the 2 1/2 year old room a little early at daycare too. I found that out Friday as we were leaving. He'd be in my room. I told the director I'd like to try it because he's so independent and does everything on his own. He doesn't cling to me or want me to hold him the entire time like every other child does whose parent works there. He's so good about it and that makes me so happy. I can't get over how well he does actually.
I do have a picture of the ultrasound but I'm not going to post it on here because honestly, it's just a little fuzzy blob and you can't see anything. The baby was measuring .47cm and we did get to see the heartbeat so I am much more at ease now. I showed Leon the picture and said, "here is a picture of your baby brother or sister." His response, "Hi Sister!!" It was so cute!! According to the ultrasound being 6w1d that would move my due date to October 22nd! That's a little farther away from Leon's to satisfy me...but who says I won't have it earlier?!?!
