8 Months Old

I can't believe Leon is already 8 months old...or at least he will be tomorrow! He has come a long way in such a short amount of time. I can't get over how fast they learn things and do things! Before I know it, he'll be crawling and getting into the cabinets and everything else! We have started baby proofing some...but we'll do more of it as we learn what he'll get into and won't get into.

I met with the pediatrician on Wednesday and abosolutely loved her! Just as I suspected, Leon has acid reflux, however, she wants me to try some other things first. She wants me to elevate the head of his mattress, change his formula back to what he was on in the hospital and sit him up for 20 minutes after he eats and see how that does. We'll find out more at his 9 month visit I guess! Leon got along with her well too. She said he can start on table food at any time. Obviously, start with mashed potatoes and stuff like that first and then go from there. I bought some fruit and veggie puffs just to see what he would do. He picked it up, licked it and then eventually put it in his mouth. He used his front teeth to chew it but then proceeded to gag. He never got sick or anything, but I think we'll wait a little longer and then try again. He didn't act like he didn't like them or anything, but it'll take some more time before he's ready for those again I think. I figured he would, but it was nice to see what he'll do too. I have a TON of stage 2 baby food to finish and then we'll see where he's at once we are getting close to finishing those. He gets to start on a sippy cup as well. He doesn't have a clue how to use it though. He tries to bite on the nipple part of it and expects fluid to come out, but it doesn't because he has to suck. It'll take him some time to get the hang of things. I'll just offer him the sippy cup and he'll eventually learn what to do with it. There were all kinds of other things we discussed, but needless to say, I have decided to go with her for his pediatrician. I think she'll do a great job with him! Leon weighs 16 pounds even now! (that was only in a diaper too) He somehow was shorter than he was at 6 months...so I don't quite get that, but he's going to be short. The doctor even said so!

This weekend isn't too busy. Danielle and I are taking the boys to Crawfordsville for the Strawberry Festival. It should be fun! Other than that, not much is going on really. Just house work. Skip was sick earlier this week, so hopefully I won't be getting that. If I were, I'd think I'd already get it. I'm exhausted though so I'll probably go to bed here VERY soon. Have a good weekend!!!!
