No New News

Noah had his gastric emptying study today. It went ok I guess. I don't really know what is normal, but he only took just over 2 oz of formula while we were there. (She said that 2 oz was the MINIMUM so we barely made that!) They give him 2 or 3 ml it looked like of some radioactive dye that makes everything show up in his stomach. Then, they strap him down to the bed with these HUGE square cameras over him and one underneath him. The bed reminded me a lot of a CT Scan bed...only it wasn't one. It had the big tube looking thing that was the camera, the bed slid down and everything...high tech for me :) He could move and do whatever, he just couldn't roll over or anything like that...which makes him really mad. I could touch him, talk to him, etc, just couldn't be around his stomach to block the picturtes. He had to lay there for an hour and the cameras took pictures of how much "food" was left in his stomach every minute for 60 minutes. The tech explained to me which one was which as far as the top and bottom camera, and when it started to "fan out" meant it was starting to move to his small intestine. To me, it looked like at the end he still had about 30-40% of his 2 oz left...but I don't know what the average is either. I've heard more than 50% is failing, but I've also heard more than 10% is failing...so I have no clue. All I know is that at the end she told me that the results would be sent to the doctor within 24 hours and we should hear something shortly after that. I'm hoping I get a call tomorrow about it, but we will see. I'm assuming if I don't hear anything tomorrow, then I'd definitely hear something on Monday...darn weekends!! He did finally relax enough at the end after some sweet ease to finally fall asleep...but he only had 10 minutes left in the test by that time too! They had a DVD player in the room for him to watch a movie. She put in the Wiggles, and he did watch it some, and then kept looking around the room to make sure I didn't leave him. Poor baby...he's been through so much in his short 8 months. I'm surprised he isn't terrified of doctor's by now!
