Emergency Room

Yes, we had our first visit to the emergency room this evening! Not fun with a baby that's for sure! Leon did really well this morning with his oatmeal, however, he did seem to spit up a little more than usual with his bottle. He went to daycare like usual. Then right before I got there, they said he spit up a lot and he hadn't ate since 1:30. (I get there about 5:15) He wasn't even screaming his head off to eat then or when we got home. Shortly after 6, I was getting ready to make his bottle and cereal when he started vomiting like crazy. I mean...waterflow out of the mouth. It was so horrible to watch. He was soaked, I was soaked, two burp rags were soaked. It was a mess. So, I called the doctor to get the after hours number, and they were still there. So, they talked to the nurse and they said to take him to the emergency room. So, we did. He has a stomach virus. He's not allowed to eat anything for 24 hours. He gets pedialyte every 15 minutes while he's awake and then around 8 tomorrow night we can try to give him a bottle again. If he gets sick then too, it's back to the pedialyte for 24 hours again. Hopefully he'll be fine. He had 3 doses of pedialyte at the hospital and he only got sick once, and it was more like dry heaving. He's been fine after his last dose. We stopped by the store on the way home to get some pedialyte since I obviously don't have any at home. I'll be staying home from work tomorrow I'm sure. My friend offered to stay home with him for 1/2 a day, however, she just had a baby...almost 2 weeks old now so that's the last thing that she needs right now is a 2 week old vomiting like that! So, hopefully he sleeps well tonight. He got to bed well past his bedtime, so we'll see. I'll be sleeping extremely light tonight with the monitor and hoping that he's fine in the morning to where he's not so needing and clingy like he has been lately. He may have been trying to come down with this for a few days now and just finally got it. I'm just hoping it's a 24 hour thing and that it goes away and we don't have this problem again. Until later...keep him in your thoughts that he feels better. We have plans this weekend (Leon and I anyway) and hopefully we'll be able to keep them.
